Seems a lot of EVOs go through that stage of life, lot of guys think they're worth rebuilding. With the better aftermarket parts we can put in them now, wonder how many more decades they'll be around. Still working on this one, old Tour Glide rode great even with a worn out suspension, busted parts, whole lotta rattles... Lot more fun putting new/refurbed parts on a clean frame than pounding and cutting the old stuff off. Wanted to paint it, but don't think I'll take the time now, been off the road too long already. Older pic, going down to bare frame.

Why do you say that? Is this something I should replace now while I have it apart or you being sarcastic? I don't want any surprises on this think later down the road.

That's a fun look project. I have had everything out of mine at one point in time. Never had a bare frame at once but I have checked everything front to back inside and out on mine.

He is being both a smarty pants and making a positive comment !!
The compensators on some late model bikes are prone to early failure but the ones like you have last seemingly forever in comparison.

I have a pair of streamliners driver boards, rider condition though with some grinding of the edges from contact with pavement on corners. Not mint trailer queen shape but perfect rider shape. 50 bucks plus the ride if you want them.

No worries. Just making sure I am trying to correct all the weak links while I have it apart is all. I hear the woodruff key on the tapered shaft is the weak link on these bikes in the driveline and I looked into replacing it as my buddy has an fxr trans that I was gonna buy and throw in there but it is a later style so I would have to get a new starter and a new inner and outer primary and clutch basket and all kinda **** would prolly cost me $1000 to get it swapped over and it just doesn't seem worth it to me is all.

But thanks for letting me know that compensator is damn near bulletproof

might consider getting a later year set of head pipes, it would open up a boatload of muffler options for you.

Thanks for the info but I am gonna build a set of one off pipes for it. I don't think I will be running mufflers on it. Just straight pipes.
