Default Question regarding Garmin Nuvi mount

I have a Garmin 2497 Nuvi GPS unit. Online, from GPSCity, I found an accessory which may be useful on my SG.

Does anyone use one of those spring locking suction cups to hold a GPS directly onto your windshield?

Garmin makes great GPS and Ram makes great mounts but I'm wondering how safe/secure will my GPS be, mounted onto my windshield?

I would hate to loose my GPS in the wind. Since it's the Nuvi line, while riding, I would not be able to hear the directions, that's why I was thinking about mounting the GPS on the windshield so that I can peak at the guidance, safely of course.

Here's a link:

Thanks!

If you did, i would put a tether on it so if it does fall, it wont hit the ground.

I've had them fall off in my car onto the dash board - I wouldn't use it on a bike. There are plenty of better ways to mount to the handlebars - look up Ram Mounts. Joe

Default garmin mount

Do a search on ebay for garmin motorcycle mount. I have one of the clamp on ball mounts that works great.

As mentioned above, consider looking on ebay or maybe if you go to a bike rally you can look at the displays.
The power cord can be used as a safety back-up if set-up correctly.
Ebay and the bike shows have a water resistant enclosure that comes with a ball mount you attach to handlebars.

Guys, thank for the responses but I already bought a RAM mount which connects to the left handlebar.

What I was thinking is, since I won't be able to hear the turn-by-turn directions, it may be easier to attach the GPS to the windshield.

BUT, since starting this thread, I called GPS City and they advised not to attach the GPS to the windshield. So, I guess I have my answer.

Thanks again!

Suction cup on bike windshield does not work look at RAM mount site they probably have specific mount for that GPS, well made product handles vibration lot better then any other mount.

i drilled a hole in my fairing and use a "camera mount" its just a ball with a threaded bolt sticking out, then clamped the garmin mount to that,it puts the gps right in front of the left windshield bag. it does vibrate more at idol witch make it hard to see but smoothes right out when moving.

I got a free Nuvi 2497 which I use in my truck. I normally use my phone for GPS and have the audio go through the bluetooth feature of my stereo but I haven't found a phone GPS (Galaxy Note 4) which is as good a my Garmin. And, I really don't like looking down while riding but I'll give it a try.

Thanks again all!

Pretty clean mount for his Nuvi.

I have this on my RK for a handlebar mount.
