Default Possible bad ground?

Happy New Year everyone. A friend recently had his inner fairing painted. When he put everything back together he started having problems with his indicator lights acting up. When he flips the switch for his high beams his oil light comes on. When he hits his turn signals the other one come on. He marked all the plug connections before he tore the bike apart and everything is hooked up right. Could one of the plugs be corroded and a ground not making a good connection?Any thoughts will help. Thank you

Another thought is a pinched/rubbed through wire somewhere when he put it back together.

When everything is hooked up right, the lights will work correctly...

Tell us the year and model.

When he clicks on the left turn signal the right one flashes. And vice versa. All his wire connections are plugged in properly. It's a 2000 Electra Glide Classic

The wires are not connected properly.

Check the connector to the interconnect harness, look at the wire colors, make sure they match on each side of the connector, make sure it is not connected backwards.

Also make sure the connectors are not swapped.

It is not a ground issue.

A pinched/damaged wire will cause whatever is on that circuit to not work.

A bad ground will cause whatever is on that circuit to not work.

If the wrong component is energized, it is because the current took the wrong path.

I know you think he marked everything and put it back together correctly but it's pretty obvious that he missed something. Lights flicker and turn signals reversed only AFTER he pulled everything apart and plugged it back together again?

I see him pulling the front fairing off and start over. Maybe you could help as well. A second set of eyes is always a good idea.

dan89, I checked all the connections. He marked every connector plug before he took the fairing apart and all of his reference marks on the plugs line up.

He may need to replace the connectors. When I changed handlebars I had a similar issue. Ends up when I removed the wires from the connectors I messed up the locking tabs inside the connectors. Consequently, I wasn't getting a good connection inside the connector when I reassembled the connectors. Before I discovered the connector issue, I sore up and down that I had the connections right, but ended up I had them 180 off, left to right. It's easy to do depending on how you look at the connections. Like Dan89flstc said, it can't be wired correctly or it would work. Good luck and let us know what you find out.
