Default Handlebar question

I like the look and dimension of a 2014 handlebar. Can I use it on my 2002 Road King together with the currently used controls and grips?

do you mean with your currently used controls...or the currently used controls ( 2014~5)

the electrics are not "plug and play". they work with the canbus system which is electronic controls via logic circuits and relays

so yes/no/maybe...this swap would require a good working knowledge of the H-D electrical system and electrics in general to adapt the controls to your bike.

I would rate difficulty as a "7".

not worth the trouble

Yes, the new bars will fit on your 02...I would just by Heritage bars if I were you. I don't believe they are notched for TBW and you don't need that...

I have right now the '02 fat handlebar on my bike. I really like 1.25 in diameter. The '14 fat handle bar is higher than the one I have. That's what make it interesting for me together with the 1.25" diameter.

Mkguitar(mike), I don't want to change the electrical configuration. I simply want to carry over my '02 controls and grips onto the '14 handlebar.

I think the 14 bars are also 1". They are not fat bars.

Ah. Now I gotcha. I thought you wanted to put a set of the 14 style bars on (the stock ones). I would buy a set of the Wild 1 RK bars before I coughed up that much for the Harley ones. I think the Harley require a new set of risers since there is not a step down. The Wild 1s do not.

Your controls and grips will work. You will need the 1 1/4" risers though. I believe them are the bars that came originally on my 2013 CVO Road King. I removed them at a lil over 1K miles & installed WO 14" apes. I have the bars & risers & would prolly sell them, if your interested shoot me a PM.
