Hi, has anyone added a security system to their bike? I have a 13' Road Glide and am thinking about adding one since mine doesn't have one. Is it difficult to install, any complications, or suggestions? Thanks, Jason.

I did it myself, it took about 45 min following directions. You do have to take it to the dealer to have them activate the FOB to the system. I have mine for my 2012 that won't work on my new 2015, (shocker). My fob is active for this system so it would save you the dealer visit. Make me an offer and its yours, just sitting in my tool box collecting dust

I've got the HD system and I don't like it. I've got to have the fob every time I want to move the bike and it's a PIA. I have a Scorpio system on my softail and think it's a lot better. You activate and deactivate it with a remote pager so you can leave it unarmed in the garage if you chose. It also has three alarm parameters, ignition tampering, motion sensor and perimeter sensor. You chose which combo to use. And finally it has a hijack disable system. If someone manages to take off with your bike while you are nearby you can remotely shut it down if you get onto it quickly.
I installed mine with no problem. It comes with good instructions. Mine is an older model so I'm sure the newer ones are updated.
i have the Digital Dawg. it works awesome. i installed a dummy led light on the dash that flashes when the ignition is off. but if you get one it will be in manual mode until you turn it to auto mode. very easy install. maybe 10 mins
If the bike comes without security, does that mean it doesn't have a fob?
I guess so. Early Harleys with a security system had a push-button fob, current bikes (my 2011 does) have a proximity fob.
I don't understand all this 'PIA' stuff! An unlocked bike isn't secure, wherever it's parked, so to move it requires the key - and with the fob attached to the key, hey presto......
I have the Ride Scorpio on mine. Installation was pretty easy. It gives warning chirps if someone gets close to the bike, they don't even have to touch it. I pay a yearly fee for the GPS option. This lets me arm/disarm, remote kill, and GPS track the bike from my phone. I get text alerts every time the alarm goes off. It also has a key fob so that the alarm automatically arms when I walk away and disarms when I get near it.
