Default Headset Modification

I read on here somewhere and can't find it now naturally, where someone cut off the speakers and was just using the mic. I would like to see some pics, if this was done and how it was mounted at the tank.

I have no desire to wear a headset, but wouldn't mind the mic for voice commands. Was wondering if anyone came up with a way to mount the mic on the tank and still work from there.
Before I cut one up and give it a go myself I thought I'd ask.

Thanks for any input.

From my experience, the mics aren't that sensitive. They need to be placed within an inch or so to work without hollering. If someone has a better idea, have at it.

Instead of cutting the speakers off the HD headset I bought this adapter:
http://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/e11400...OC%3AUS%3A3160

The seller only lists when he has stock. You might have to direct message him.

Then I could use small computer microphones. I got what I call a "Madonna mic" that I plug in when I want to use the CB or voice controls.

I ride with some that have done this. They still mount the mic to their helment. Not sure what you are talking about mounting it to the tank.

First...thanks to all who replied.
When I say mounted to the tank, I mean where it plugs in. Really don't want it on my helmet, if at all possible. Don't plan on using it that often. For instance....getting ready to leave.
Say "navigate to "and pull out.
When not in use, just unplug and leave in tour pack.
Also, have seen the adapter. If I could buy a deal that would wind up the cord, I would probably go that route. Just pull the cord and mic up to use it and put back. Don't plan on even using the CB. Never did on my other bikes. Realize, I may not be explaining this the right way. Also, not interested in the cop type mics either that mount to the dash. Thanks
