is there anyway to put a flht seat on a roadking?...i see that the consoles are a different length...any way to change consoles or adapt it?...
i just bought an flht corbin seat and i hate to buy another for a roadking..
Most people tend to convert the other way. You need to change to an FLHT dash, it is shorter. You can probably find one pretty cheap from someone that made the conversion. Check in the classifieds.
It will not fit with the stock road king dash, the nose is too long.
It also will not fit with a road king custom dash, or FLHX, same deal.
I'm sure the aftermarket has something that will fit the bill, maybe
even some of the old harley models, that you can get in reproduction dash/speedo units.
Check out the catalogs, custom chrome, drag etc.
Maybe a 2 piece wide glide, or softail dash would work, but the bottom piece would have to be shortened some.
Peace
Rags
The RK has a longer dash (center tank console) than the FLHT. You just need to swap them to get a FLHT seat on a RK. You might want to see if the FLHT seat can overlap the longer dash on the RK. Worst case, assuming you are trading the FLHT, put the stock seat back on and buy an FLHT dash for the RK, new ones from the MoCo are under $200. Should be cheap in the classifieds. Hope this helps, Steve.
OK guys, if he puts a FLT type dash on it, what is he going to do for a speedo and ignition switch?
I don't think it can be done unless you cut your RK dash off to match the seat length, then the only thing holding the dash on is the center nut.....
Rags is right, maybe have to go to an aftermarket dash, older model stuff with the half dash or piece something together. either way, sounds like a major PIA to me!
i have done this before on my old (previous RK). I had a pillow style EG seat. Took it to the ulpholstery shop they cut the 'horn' down to fit. 40$. Seeing as how i got the seat for free it was well worth the cost. They did a great job. Basically they just remove some of the underside of the seat plastic or whatever its made of, cut the leather and re-sew it to fit. Took them about a couple days to get it back to me. I later sold the seat on ebay once i got my EG.
Taking it to a good seat man, might be the cheapest and easiest way, or sell the seat on Eaby,
and get the right one for your setup. I wonder if you could find a speedo that would fit in where the gas cap door is
on the FLT dash, that would be custom for sure.
