RE: Electraglide to Roadglide conversion complete!!
While doing my EG to RG swap, I talked with the dealer parts guy who said a guy (hows that for credability) in Europe bought a Roadking, and wanted to make it into an RG. It is more involved than an RG/EG or vice versa. The frame is the same (i think) so the fairing should mount no problem, but the wiring harness will be the problem and expense, instead of just needing some short standard harness parts, your going to have to swap out the main harness, big bucks and time to strip the frame.
RE: Electraglide to Roadglide conversion complete!!
Always loved the RG look, hate the silver motor. Guess the MoCo cured it this year and I REALLY want a 2003 anny silver and black RG!! Maybe when I win the lotto...LOL
RE: Electraglide to Roadglide conversion complete!!
Doch4m,
 \\; Good morning, I'm new to the HD forum but a friend of mine referred me to your conversion. This is the same project I want to do to my bike also. I really like the work and have been wanting to do this same work on my 04 EG Std (Police version). Like you, I find the dealership's labor to be too much. \\; By chance, do you still have the parts list w/all of the part #'s? \\; HD tried to sell me every little nut and bolt totalling almost $3K (before $1200 in labor). \\; If you were willing to share the parts list it would save me a lot of time and quite a bit of money I'm guessing. Also, what parts will I be able to re-use from my EG Std? \\; Thanks for your time.
RE: Electraglide to Roadglide conversion complete!!
Nice job, lots of work. \\; My brother had the RG, and he absolutely loved it. \\; Has the King now, and want to go back to the RG. \\; Best effort I've seen.... Great job.

Actually the "Main Harness" is the same. Its the Harnes sections for the fairing tach/speedo/guages/Handlebar controls for the radio \\;that you dont have on a Road King. When I converted my Road King to a "Steet King" I was able to use the Aux power that was in my Headlight Narcle to power the lighter and 1amp stereo memory lead. I just ran a powere lead from the Battery to power the stereo through my ignition switch (So the stereo was not Always on)
 \\;
My perdicerment will be when I add an Oil pressure and Temp Guage. I will have to check the output amperage and see it I can use the line I added or add another.
 \\;
(Next Winters project)
 \\;
Great work
 \\;
