My 4yr old Battery Tender Jr was flashing alternating red / green. A trip to Walmart with $35 fixed it.

[QUOTE=....check the fuse in your tender cable ( most tender "pigtails" have -and should have a fuse in them......[/QUOTE]
i have one of the harley tenders and it doesn't have a fuse in the pigtail connector. Is there one up near the battery, in line. I'm just starting to have a problem with charging or the tender. I left my direct wired heated seat on for 3 days. When i went to start the bike, it was toes up. i had just charged the battery a few days earlier and the yellow on the tender changed from yellow to green. I plugged in the tender and it wouldn't charge, staying steady yellow indicating charging. I had to jump start the bike and the battery took a charge from the jump and running it for about 30 minutes. I hooked back up the tender hoping something might have changed but nope, still didn't charge.
Is there a fuse up under the seat for the charging pigtail? i couldn't find mention of one in the service manual.....or is it time to roll over and spring for a new battery....30000 miles on it, 2013 FLHTK.

The fuse for my 11 limited was under the seat next to the battery. It has a rubber flip off cap. If you look around a bit, you will find it. My tender stopped working because I plugged in a heated jacket liner and burnt it, took me a bit to figure out what was wrong, ended up being the fuse. Good luck brother.

cool, thanks. I'll pull the seat and take another peek. i figured one was there someplace because the clip (pos-neg clamps) portion of the tender has a 25 amp fuse in it. i hate pulling the battery....what a pita. would be great if its just a fuse instead of $$ for a battery.

My fuse was on top of the battery above the ECM somewhere, next to other plugs, just poke around, you will find it if yours is the same. Good luck.

You won't find it in the service manual, because your bike didn't ship from the factory with a tender.
Up until '14, they were dealer installed during setup.

And yes, it will (should) have a fuse. Anything connected directly to the battery like that should be fused.

I have always had some kind of trouble with my tenders, I think the HD requires a little more juice to maintain the battery than what the smaller tenders can handle for a long period of time.

well, pulled the seat, took the battery cover off....much easer after you do it a couple of times.....pulled the fuse and it was ok. i swapped it out anyway. i'm trying going directly to the terminals since i have the seat off. guess if this doesn't work, its probably bad battery but i don't understand why hooking it up to the truck and jump starting it and running it for awhile charges it up some. don't think it puts it all the way up cause after riding it for about a half hour and shutting it down for about 10 minutes it was a bit hard to turn over. and start again.

In my case it was simply a broken wire from 4 or 5 years of flexing the BMW type connector I wired onto the end of my Tender cable. Wasn't obvious because the wire broke inside the plug and took a little while to trace it down.
