I was thinking about $2500 would be a good figure, or should I say that is what I'm willing to spend on a good system
That's a good amount to get a fine system, does your SG have a tour pack/ lower fairings or saddlebag speaker lids? With no picture of your bike its hard to know. Are you wanting lower fairing speakers or saddlebag speakers?
You can do A LOT with $2500 and some know how on installing. If you don't know how to install we'll help you. Call and discuss with Bill at Biketronics and he won't steer you wrong.
I am going with a Rockforg Fosgate 300x2 and Infinity 62.11i speakers in my RG. This system along with an amp install kit is under $300 and is pretty popular. If you are willing to spend $2500 the sky is the limit. Go to the audio section and start reading.
Thinking about a stereo upgrade on my 2012 street glide, any input is greatly appreciated. Loiking for a clear, crisp, high quality sound. Thanks in advance
I also have a 2012 Streetglide
I installed the Top of the line Alpine CDE-HD149BT single din radio, AlpineTtype-R 6.5 in the faring and 6x9's in the hogtunes lids. I'm also running a Memphis audio 4 channel 50x4 amp (16-SA4.50) that sits on top of the radio. I think I have like $900 invested and it sounds AMAZING!!!
I went with Rockford (300x4) amp, Rockford 6x9 (4 in bags),Rockford 6.5 in batwing, Rockford,Tweeters and clarion head unit with the control module to maintain controls. Crisp and clear...., even installed myself, great advice from techs

Not really sure what the current hot setup is but $2500 gets ya way past Infinity 6.5s and RF amp. Something like Biketronics hand control kit plus mount for the head unit of your choice, 7.1s in the fairing and 6.5s in the lowers along with some thump'n 6x9s in the bags and clean big power amps ought to get ya started... Lots of great info in the Audio section. Yes ya can get good sound on a bike...

I errored and visited the audio section too, a week later what you said just arrived today. I also got a 8 ga wiring and a base plate for the amp. Lots favor this as a good starter for those going down the road.
$2500 and you will be shaking the beat on that ride. Read the past 100 days of audio posts and you will have a really good idea on which way to post.
They are very helpful over there, love their stuff, and link where to get it.
You have to figure out do you want to build your system or do the plug and play route as I stated before.
On my SG I'm running:
Hertz HSK 165 6.5 component speakers up front ---$560
Hertz HCX 690 6x9's in the lids---$369
JL Audio 8" Subs in the bags---$394
JL HD600 amp---$850
JL XD300 mono amp---$350
Alpine Headunit ---$350
This was just a little over $2800. Just to give you a idea of what $2500 plus looks like.
Now with the plug and play systems you can pretty much get the same pieces without the subs and extra amp for a fraction of the cost and still have a decent sounding system. And have money to do other upgrades.
So again you have to figure out which route you want to go and then go from there. If you go the plug and play route then I would go with Biketronics. Best bang for the buck.
Thanks for all the input,I will take it and ride with it. Thanks again to all, and when I finally get something together,I will proudly show it, mabe by then I should be able to have more privileges on this forum and be able to upload pictures of my ride, and stereo choice. Thanks again
I have 6 JL Audios on mine (Fairing, lowers, rear pods), and a JL amp in the tourpak, and it's by far, the nicest setup I ever had. Had a bikes-only stereo installer do it, and it was about $3K. You can get a nice one for $2500. The thing that made it even nicer was getting rid of the HK head unit, and putting in a Sony. A noticeable difference in quality.
