I also went from a Heritage to an Ultra, but mine is a Road Glide Ultra. As others have said, the first thing you notice is how top heavy it is compared to the Heritage. The Heritage feels like a 250 dirt bike in comparison.
It's only top heavy when you're trying in vain to stop it from falling over! Seriously though, you're going to love the comfort and you'll be pleasantly surprised by how well it handles at all speeds.
Best decision you ever made. I went from an '09 Softail Deluxe to a '15 Ultra Limited. Night and day. The Ultra is amazing, you are going to love it. I can't believe it took me this long to trade up. As far as the radio goes, I never thought I would like having one on the bike. I WAS WRONG. I love it. Cruisin down the road with some '80s rock kickin is the best. The radio is perfect for me. Good luck with yours.
Everything mkguitar said was 100% correct. Took the words right outta my mouth!
Trade off? The Ultra will be more comfortable for long trips, but the Heritage is SO much better looking. I don't care for fairings & tour pacs; IMHO they ruin the classic lines of the bike. If I gotta take more than my saddlbags can hold, I'm takin' 4 wheels.
Cruisin down the road with some '80s rock kickin is the best.
80s rock is too wimpy. Flock of Seagulls & Thompson Twins--sheesh! If you GOTTA have music, Floyd, Dead,Who,Cream or Zep is better!

I agree with this. I went from a 04 Heritage to a 08 Ultra.. Two things I did not think I would use is the radio and cruise control. I not only use both of those but have a GPS which allows me to use my phone too.. The Ultra handles like a Dream in the twistiest.Great bike!!!!
Great bike. Yes it is heavier. If you use good riding skills you will have no problems.
This is true so don't let the weight worry you. I'm a small guy and didn't drop mine until I was in my 60's and 5 years of riding an Ultra at the end of a 500 mile day. Dropped it while making a Uturn in the middle of the highway after noticing my riding partner had dropped from Veiw in my mirror. So my advice to anyone at the end of the day, stop before you get to tired. Congratulations on the purchase, I also went from a Heritage to the Ultra. 2003 Heritage to 2006 Ultra.
