Depending on where you want your hands to be in relation to your shoulders the 13 1/2" rise bars may be too tall for you. Do you have fairing mounted mirrors or bar mounts?

Recently installed KST Mayhem (12in.). I'm 5' 10", normal reach, I guess. Sitting at rest, it seems to be as much of a reach as I would like. But I must add, due to the weather I haven't had any riding time.

Your hands are probably right at shoulder height or just a tad under I'd bet.

I have to run under 12" bars due to poor blood flow. I didn't ever think about it, but one day I test rode a Victory with factory apes level with my shoulders. My right hand became numb quickly, and I constantly needed to shake it off to get blood back into my hand. Its something to think about, it's not always just looks...

I got 14" KSTs on their way... Everything else is already here.

Let me ask something, I've never had apes, ok, and I just registered for the local Civilian Top Gun Class; that's in April. Do you guys find that the apes help or hinder your slow speed maneuvers? I mean I know there's extremes where apes are so tall that you can't reach the clutch properly at full lock, but I'm talking about your 12's, 14's, 16's; Just looking for input. I'm gettin apes because I like the way they look. I don't find the stock bars all that uncomfortable, but I think they would be on longer rides, so the apes would be a plus there. I'm concerned that installing them right away might be detrimental to building proper slow speed skills, something I really want to master. Should I work on it with the stock bars? Stock at full lock is kind of awkward, being tall.. Just thought I'd ask this..

I've read apes are kind of like getting power steering; I've also noticed that a lot of the really good Top Gun riders have taller than stock bars.

What he said is absolutely tru I thought the 10 3/4 KST Mayhem Bagger bars would be tall enough for me and they are not but I love the Mayhem Baggers so I am going to do it again but with the 14's. The job on a 14 bike really isn't that bad I did it on my 09 ultra and it was much more of a pita getting the wires through the bars than this was. But if you think you need 12" order 14" at least with the Mayhem Bagger Bars. They have an awesome wrist angle and are very comfortable.
As far as the question of slow speed maneuvering for me as soon as I went out with the taller bars it felt like a different bike. I have way more control now than I did with the shorter bars. Moving around in parking lots and even coming to a stop are much more comfortable now so I can't wait until i go to 14" because with the 10 3/4" that I put on I am still reaching down for the bars and I have them pulled back as far as I can. But the width and wrist angle make it easier to push your bike around in slow maneuvering.

If you want to keep the use of the fairing mounted mirrors you'll need to go at least 14"s. A short fella might get away with 12s and still be able to see out of them but I seriously doubt it.
