If riding 2 up go with the Ultra. If riding solo, I would go with the RG.. Your lady will catch a lot more unwanted wind on the RG. JMO

Go with the RG you said it has the tourpak, speakers, and less miles and 1K less.
Jump in the Shark tank.
I am not biased, I own a 2013 limited so that being said get the RG.

Thanks for all of the input. Working a lot of hours so I won't be test riding till later in the week.
The RG is an Ultra so it has pretty much the same options as the Ultra Limited except the heated grips.
We do a lot of 2 up riding so i want to take my wife for a ride too because they say "happy wife, happy life".
Thanks again for the info.

I'd be curious to hear a bit more. I ride with my wife in the back more than occasionally but she also has her Deluxe.

If I went FLTRXS she'll end up with more wind? I thought she was shielded by me and my big head.

I guess demo ride / rental.

Totally disagree with the marginally better, agree the price difference is substantial. I just traded my 12 RG on a new RG Special, the differences in the two bikes while they seem subtle individually add up to a LOT nicer bike... The 19" front wheel and wide profile tires with 20% bigger forks, the saddle bag lids (finally!), hydraulic clutch, extra power of the 103 HO, linked braking, floating front discs, inner fairing 3 or 4" closer, handlebars that work for most people.... Then on to the big changes; The fairing, I can't honestly say in the 300 miles I put on it how improved it is. I just put a windshield on it like my old one had and I'll be able to judge better on my next ride. The Boom Box, FINALLY we have a better stereo/GPS set up than any competitor.

I am going to let a bud and his wife take mine for a spin soon, he has an 11 RGU and the wind on her is his only beef... This is what the new fairing is all about, but without a windshield that is right for you (which I suspect you'd find on a rental), I think you still won't have an answer.

Yep, that was the deal breaker for me several years ago, too much wind for my wife.

When you finally get to fit in a test ride on these bikes...make sure to have your sweetie along so she can give you input fm the rear/passenger seat. Good luck, both are nice rides (can't go wrong w/either) and keep us posted on your decision.

Yes - if I was in the market - I'd buy a Road Glide.

Thanks

mkguitar is probably referring to the chine nose feature at the mid point of the fairing. It is scientifically better (IAW aerospace engineers) as it splits the oncoming wind and reduces drag allowing the motorcycle to go faster and have better fuel economy. How much at normal speeds is debatable but it is scientifically proven.
This is a picture of an AGM86 (Air Luanched Cruise Misslie) it flies pretty fast (a bit faster than a Harley) note the chine nose.

I agree. I totaled a 2012 Limited and with insurance I could have gone with the Rushmore and instead went with a very low mileage 2013 Limited. Got this done without any money out of my pocket because I found the 2013 for less than ins. paid for the 2012.

I have a friend with a Rushmore Limited and have ridden it quite a bit. Can't tell a real difference in handling, DO NOT like the radio system or the Mini Cooper hood scoop, but I did like the size of the tour pack, just not the look, and I like the latches on the saddle bags. Might have a little more power, but not enough to get excited about. They are nice, but just not worth the extra $'s over a low mileage '12 or '13.

Bill
