Default Exyended Waranty!!!

Hey, we just bought our first Harley, It's an 07 Road King Classic. Is the extended Waranty worth the money? For 7 years it's like $1495 plus another $450 for the tire and wheel option. We're supposed to pick it up next weekso any info you can give us will help.

Thanks, Jim

Welcome from Indianapolis, Indiana and congrats on the new scoot!

Some will say it's a waste of money and others will say it gives them peace of mind.
I got the 7 year plan because I expect to keepmine for a number of years and figured it being a new model year for the 96ci and 6 speed trans, I want worry free riding for a long time.

If I sell before the 7 years is up, I can cancel and get a prorated refund. So, for me, it's an insurance policy.

The extended service plans are sold at discounts by some dealers. Check Zanotti's for a price before you make up your mind.

Yep, I will get one on my 2007 for the reason listed above. New engine/trans on the block I want that to be covered if anything bad should go wrong with it

I loved the EW...just never get the pre-paid maintenance. If you sell/trade the bike (as stated before) you get the EW pro-rate back...pre-paid main...hahahaha...you just paid for the stealers christmas party......

07 Road King Classic... not sure about the extended warranty, but you sure made a great choice in bikes.... what color?

Hogback

P.S. You got two years warranty with the bike... if it seems to have problems you can pick up the warranty at the end of the two years....

I bought one for my 05' today...with 2 days left on the original 2 year factory warranty. I have a little over 15,000 miles and have had no problems. But, I like the peace of mind, and don't plan on selling. Another 3 years cost me $1,200.

I did 5 years for $999, of course this just means year 3-5. But it does cover towing, travel and lodging expenses if more than 60 miles from home. This was my first HD and even though I never buy Ext Warranty on anything else this seemed to give me peache of mind. BUT then I found out that I can't hardly do anything to the bike without voiding the warranty. And since I'm feeling like it's running hotter than it should I'm wanting to open up the breathing on the bike with AC and pipes, along with a fuel manager. I guess I will see once the 1000 mile is done by the dealer and I get the oil cooler on. After that I plan on doing the maintenance myself and hopefully don't have to take it back to the dealer for a long time for any work. At least that is my plan.

If you got a 5 year extended warranty that should take you to 7 years. They should not start that extended until AFTER the factory warranty runs out.
As for making changes and voiding a warranty, this is up to the dealer you purchased your bike and warranty from and how good of a relationship you have with that dealer. They are the ones that will push your claim through and fight to get it done for you

Thanks for all the great responses. I will check and see if my dealer offers a discounted EW.

Hogback, We bought the Black Cherry Pearl and Pewter Pearl, With Vance and Hines pipes and Stage 1 Kit, Had Dyna Wide Handle bars installed and also had the saddle bag guards changed to the ones that go just under the bags. My wife is short and the factory gaurds hit her in the back of leg.

We're getting excited we thought we could pick it up this weekend but now it's looking like mid next week[&o]
