Got my PV and map from FM last month and been riding with that calibration on my bike. Today I decided to do an auto tune session to see if it would improve the bike's ride. Did one session this morning and after it read on the PV that learned values were 7- to 13-.
Is this normal after an auto tune? The bike seems to run way smoother and throttle response has gotten better, just don't know if this the way its suppose to work.If I do a couple more sessions will those learned values increase,or does that not even matter as long as the bike runs better?
New to this just need some help and advice,Thanks
Yes it is normal, if I were you I would run several auto tune sessions. If you do a good job covering the entire fuel table while auto tuning with several sessions you should be able to get it down to 4% max change. Your pretty close at that point.
Yes that is normal and exactly what the autotune does. Autotune adjusts the VE tables to match the air flow characteristics to your bike. Continue to do autotune runs to cover as much of the map as possible and when the values settle down (+/- 5% or so) and you are good to go. Initially you would see a bigger improvement
So really the map from FM is just a starting point for the PV and I should run the AutoTune from there and refine the tune to fit my bike? I haven't tried the Autotune yet as it was already a nice improvement over the stage one tune from the dealer.
Yes have read the sticky on PV and at 5% it should be good. But why negative 7 to negative 13? Is the PV adjusting the fuel to leaner or richer?
It is not adjusting the fuel tables, it is displaying the learned Volumetric Efficiency (VE) of the front and rear cylinders. The tune, new VEs, are only modified when you flash the ECM. If you want to change the fuel tables you can do thay on your PC.
No two bikes have the same VE so a PV map is just a starting point for the VEs.
Thanks guys, thought I was doing these auto tune runs wrong.
Did another couple days later and learned values were 0 to 12-, so I think I'm getting to where it needs to be.
If I'm understanding this right each time you run a auto tune you want to flash the ecm. And run a auto tune till your # get to where you want them . Or am I wrong?
