Unhappy Help!

Anyone know how to adjust the front brake light switch at the lever? I put new bars on but now when I apply the cruise control, the slightest bump it disengages. It's on my 09 Ultra.

you broke the switch

as detailed in the manual a shim is required when the controls are loosened.

about $60 at the dealer.

some riders have fixed with a small screw or jb weld- you could search for those threads.

be aware that the price of failure is also your brake light may be on all the time - so getting rear-ended in traffic

It's very possible the switch is messed up (very likely).

But if the brake light was on all the time, the cruise would never engage at all.

Thanx for the input. I fixed it. I'll explain in case someone needs this fix too. look at where the flat part of the brake lever that contacts the plunger switch. It's just a really small rubber covered push switch. I opened the switch housing and removed the brake lever braket cap. I noticed it's just in the switch housing and can't adjust it. So I took a key chain, you know the ones that are rubbery

you get free with something, it's 1/8" thick. I cut a 1/4" circle from the rubbery thing. Took some emery cloth, roughed the small spot on the lever that contacts the switch and the rubbery piece. I used Loktite super glue and clued it to the lever. Put everything back together and now the lever has about 1/4" of pull before the brake lights come on. Worked perfectly and cost zero and about an hour of time.

I noticed a leather cover on the lever...

Is there fringe?

I like the look of fringe on the right bike, but it weakens the switch resistance over time
