I go every year to Ohio Bike Week since I live in Port Clinton. And it's growing larger each year. My favorite event is the Kelly's Island Dice Run (Wednesday June 03). It's a "free round trip ferry ride" out of Marblehead paid for by the establishment owner's on the island. Ya can't beat that savings! And Put In Bay is a great but expensive day. Use the Millers Ferry out of Catawba if you plan on taking your bike. And be sure to stop at the Catawba Inn for some great food and libations. Very biker friendly. Mad River HD also has something going on daily so be sure to stop in and check their schedule of events. Margaritaville on Rt. 6 is a great place to hang out and they will have live bands and vendors all week long. Plus many other biker friendly stops.
This year the city of Port Clinton will be sponsoring on opening weekend the first annual or trial run of Hogs By the Lake (Sat/Sun May 30/31). They will be blocking off the downtown area and having live entertainment and plenty of beer. There is a video on Facebook. Ironic that the Mayor, Chief of Police and Ottawa County Sheriff are endorsing and sponsoring this event. Take it for what it is and you be the judge. Just watch the video on FB. Downtown Port Clinton is small, but great restaurants and plenty of drinking establishments that are all biker friendly. And please stop in the VFW. The older guys dig Harleys and your treated like a hero.
And if you get fed up with the hoopla and just need to get off the beaten path, take a ride along the lake. So many cool and neat place to eat and drink on the water I can't and won't mention them all. But I will mention Quaker Steak & Lube in Vermilion. It's cool having a ice cold beer on the canal watching the boat traffic. Enough said.
Hope this helps. See you there.
