I don't know if you're the technology type but maybe install a panel mount dual USB port for charging your phone or running a GPS? Leaves your cig plug open for cigs and stuff or whatever.
I installed this one right under where the left side handle bar goes in:
Where did you pull the power from? Did you tap it off the cig lighter?
Yes Sir. Had to make up my own little wire harness running from the back of the cig but it was easy. I've run the lighter and all devices at the same time. No problem.
The making the hole in the inner fairing though took a little time.
Large drill bit and a bastard/round file. Took about an hour.
This port is very, very handy. On long trips friends are always asking me to charge their phone and stuff. lol I don't mind.
I would definately replace the fairing brackets with those heavy aftermarket ones. I think Alloy art makes them but I may be mistaken, under a hundred bucks a pair if I remember right.

There's a fab kit you can add as well. Regan something or other.
If you buy new gauges, you can offset the cost by selling your old ones. Depending on the mileage you can get $200-$250 for a set of those silver faced gauges.
Don't know if you use apple products but the ipod interface is a cool add on to connect your ipod or iphone to the stereo and control your ipod music through controls already on the bike.
