Won't start in gear. Need advice.

no, not supposed to be that way. if you are in gear, and you pull the clutch in, it should start. the hardest time to find neutral is when you are in the middle of an intersection trying to get it in neutral so you can restart

did you by chance change out your clutch and brake levers?

Yes, but that was last year and all was OK. I think something happened when I recently re-glued my left grip and had the split that housing.

There is also a kickstand saftey. If the kickstand is down it won't start in gear. It will actually kill the bike if you put the stand down while in gear.
