Hmm, have you considered trading in the bike for a new one to replace the tires?

Hey, I just like to consider all possibilties.

To your other question, I threw away a five year old perfectly good never been us tire because I didn't want the worry in the back of my mind.

One more vote for "replace 'em". Can't tell if a tire's good or not just by looking at it. Wouldn't want anything to happen to you or that King.

After 5+ years I would replace them no matter what the mileage. Cage tires are constructed to withstand far more abuse and aging than bike tires. Besides, blow an old tire on a cage at highway speed pull over and change the tire. PITA but not inherently dangerous. Blow on old front tire on your bike at highway speed… You get the picture. The external appearance of the tire is only half the issue, you never know what condition the inside of the tire is after 7 years. Not worth the chance.

I checked into this in 2011, when I bought my 2003 Ultra with 2k on it. Dunlop recommends replacing every 6 years. Probably a CYA, but on a bike, I am not going to risk a blowout.

Those tires have little to no grip left in them, you have 2 contact patches the size of quarters keeping your butt off the blacktop.

Pretty simple equation, but that's none of my business.

I vote to replace. I imagine after that many years, the rubber has hardened quite a lot losing much of it's invaluable grip, and would worry me to no end going through the twisties on them. Tires are way too cheap to risk life and limb. And those spoke wheels tells me you have tubes which are much thinner than the tire itself.

Why replace them when the bike just sits in the garage?
