I am looking at a quick detach tour pak for my '07 road glide. I am wondering how much trouble it would be to remove and install. I probally won't run it much in town but thought it would be more comfortable than a backrest when my wife rides with me.
It's very easy and quick to remove and put back on... 5 or 10 min max.
I run with no tourpack or backrest mostof the time. The backrest goes on in about 10 seconds. Tourpack you have to remove seat (one screw is all), plug the wires in and the antenna and then you're good to go - easy.
Once you have the docking hardware and the tour pac set up to be quick detach, it takes about5 minutes to take it on or off if you reattach all the wiring. I don't do the wiring as I don't care if I have lights in the tour pac, and I don't use the radio antenna wire on the tour pac because I have a hidden antenna under the fairing.
Can't get any more comfortable than the tour pak backrest. I made my tour pak detatchable and I went the extra step and made my wiring quick detatch under the seat because I want all the rear lighting I can possibly have especially when I have my babe sitting there behind me. I also have a rider backrest.
