FLHP Differences ?
I have a buddy looking for a street glide on a budget and ran across the one in the picture. It is an FLHP converted Can someone tell me the drawbacks to purchasing a converted Police bike to a Street Glide.
The differences I see in that bike is that it obviously doesn't have the clean front fender and probably doesn't have the rear fascia SG fender unless the owner put that on while converting it.
It also appears to have 13" shocks instead of the 12" shocks that give the SG a lowered look in the rear.
There is a large following of Police bike enthusiasts on this forum. If you can find a good police bike for a good deal its usually a better deal than buying a used SG/road king, etc.
What year is it? Probably has the 103" and ABS, too...which is not easy to find on any SG prior to 2012 model year.
That's a clean looking bike. If it runs well and he likes it, he should go after it if he gets a good deal.

The main drawback could be the service it saw as a cop bike. How many miles and how well was the bike serviced?
Have your friend check out:

. . . and btw, if it has replacement tires that are the same as stock, they are not rated for two up riding.

There is a good chance that the bike was never actually owned by a police dept, worth checking out. I came real close to buying a new police RK a few years ago. Good luck to your friend.
I have an 11 FLHTP.
There are more differences than what you've read so far.
Firstly, to repeat what has been posted above... I've read that the tires on the police bikes are different and therefore not rated for 2-up riding. However, most of the guys I've talked to that have police bikes ride two up and never have any issues. I think the reason they're not rated for two up is to prevent people from trying to be cute and sit on the rear fender or radio box since they come with a solo seat typically.
The wiring is completely different. The civilian bikes have an "interconnect harness" that everything connects to. Radio, CB, Lighting, Cruise Control, Hand controls, etc etc etc. The police bikes have a completely different wiring harness so you will not be able to go out and buy a cruise control kit and plug it right in like you would with a SG. Same goes with the stereo and other things like that.
The saddle bags are completely different on police bikes prior to 2014. The police bags have always been designed to get into them while sitting on the bike, so they have a **** on the top that you can turn and pull the lid open. There are a lot of companies that make ways to customize the bags to make the big black ***** a little less ugly.
The police bikes typically don't come with any audio and the two lower gauges are just blanks. I don't know what are even in those places on the civilian bike because i never changed mine.
I'm not sure what motor that would have from 08, but police bikes got 103's long before the rest of the touring family. SO that's a good thing.
The suspension from what I understand is just a standard EG suspension.
Mine is no longer white like you see in my signature... I bought a paint set from a forum member in NC that was doing a big wheel bagger conversion. SO mine now looks like a 2012 Ember Red Sunglo EG Classic.
I think that pretty much sums it up. Besides my advice: Buy the service manual AND the police supplement. They WILL come in handy, guaranteed.
Sorry for the long post!

Someone did a lot of work to this bike Looks like a 08 police roadking. It came with a 103, abs, heavier duty charging system, oil cooler, sidestand safety switch plus several other differences depending on which agency commissioned the bike.
I see a true dual exhaust, black trim, grips, aftermarket fairing, turnsignals, seat just at a glance.
