I figured out the manual tensioner wasn't tight enough (too much slack in the chain). The pressure plate and adjusting screw wasn't tight. I went back and loosened my clutch cable and retightened.
So the good news the clutch noise went away. Now I have I whining noise coming from the primary... I hear it in Gear and when in neutral. I'm guessing this may be an inner primary bearing noise?
When I rev the engine, the whine gets higher pitch but doesn't seem as loud. When in neutral its definitely louder.
Any thoughts? Is this the inner primary bearing or something else?
No expert here but when I put the newest Se compensator and also replaced the tensioner with adjustable SE, and it started to make a racket. Opened up the primary twice and readjusted the tensioner thinking it was me but the noise wouldn't go away. I noticed that the SE comp was longer than the auto-adjustable that came with the bike so I put the original back in and the noise is now gone. I will be ordering the S&S tensioner next and try that since I have read they don't make the noise the HD unit does.
I would go back to the auto-adjusting tensioner a see if it works for you too. I hope this helps.
