Yesterday my saddle bag fell off on the way to work, it's thrashed. My own fault really, I had been wrenching on my bike and just forgot to tighten it back down.Anyway, when I got home I jumped on Ebay hoping to find a 12 or 13 limited bag someone had taken off to upgrade to a stretched or rushmore style but no such luck. What I did find were all kinds of aftermarket knock offs in pairs ranging from 150$ with no hardware to complete vivid black ABS knock offs in the 250 - 300 range and sweet hand laid fiberglass Cavalry bags from 750$ on up.Anyone have any experience good or bad with any of these Ebay vendors? Also my bike is vivid black so no trouble matching color but it's a limited with that damn grey pinstripe. How terrible would it look if I just skipped the pinstripe on the bags?Maybe spend the money I would on pin-striping on some guard rails so they won't fall off again.
You could always get it pinstriped after. I did that on mine and it turned out great. Cost about $100.
Sorry, but no experience with the aftermarket bags. If you can wait a bit, I'm sure you'll find some take-offs. I know I've seen them on the classifieds on this forum.
I found a pair of new take-off bags on Ebay complete with all hardware, after a while. There are not truck loads of old bags waiting for us, we have to be patient and vigilant!
People are always taking off their old bags and putting on CVO or stretched bags nowadays - try Craigslist, your local Harley dealer or maybe some bagger shop in your area
I bought the V- twin Mfg CVO style bags. The bottoms only in raw ABS cost me $340 shipped. My Electra has the silver pinstripe too. I'm eliminating it. I have my stock bags with lids black with pin stripe. They have Kuryakyn bag lights on the back, but if you don't like them I can take them off. Pm me and I'll give you a good deal.
New bags
Old bags with lights
Edit: bag lids and bottoms only. No hardware or rubbers.
