So I have V&H dresser duals and monster rounds with hi-flow intake and the generic stage 1 flash from the dealer on a '13 street glide, but am gonna switch to a V&H pro pipe. Initially I was quite satisfied with the sound from the duals and monster rounds, but now not so much, just a little to mellow for me and I've grown to hate the sound when off the throttle, decelerating (no rumble at all, just a perfectly uniform 'buzz' till down to idle). Not looking to debate the sound from my current setup with anyone who has similar, I just don't like it. After doing some reading and listening, I've decided to go with the V&H pro pipe, but have a couple questions that hopefully some of you may have actual experience with.
I'm under the impression the generic stage 1 flash from the dealer will work fine with the pro pipe, but would a tuner be better for performance? I expect to hear "yes", but how much real gain on a bike that only has intake and exhaust upgraded? Would the benefit be worth it I guess is what I'm asking. I'm not worried about the cost of a tuner, but rather is it a waste of time/money considering how little performance mods have actually been done to the bike?
I'm also not interested at all in tinkering/changing/upgrading tunes if I were to go with a tuner, so is any of that necessary with a tuner or can they be just simply left alone once installed at the dealership? I much prefer doing my own work on my bikes but have less than no interest in anything tuner/program/ecm related, so yes the dealer will be doing this install.
How well would the actual harley screaming eagle tuner do what I've described above? Any need to mess around with it or just forget that its there? Prefer to stay with HD parts when possible, so not much interested in the aftermarket ..don't doubt there's a lot of good stuff out there, and probably cheaper but I just prefer HD for this kind of part, if it meets my needs.
Thanks in advance for any and all info.
Your are gonna gain a ton by switching away from dresser duals. You will gain more by getting a dyno tune. The tuner used doesn't matter as much as who is doing the tuning. If you want to tinker with the tuning yourself the power vision may be the most user friendly as it doesn't require a computer to re-flash the ecm. The screamin eagle and the tts both need it. The TTS needs a laptop to do the data gathering as well. The se pro tuner does not, but it is limited to how much data can be held in the unit when gathering.

The tts no longer needs a laptop to gather data. Just the tts unit attached to the bike to gather data or recordings.
I had the Pro-Pipe on my 96CI Dyna with SE Ventilator AC and Stage 1 factory download. When I had it dynoed, my baseline was 73 hp and after the tune it was 79. Different engine I know, but everyone I talked to said that the Pro-Pipes tune really well, and that was my experience. On my new SGS I decided to go more for looks with the bigger engine, but still had it tuned. I didn't gain much over the Stage 1 baseline, but at least I know the F/A ratios are right where they need to be.
its been out for about a year. I own both PV and tts. I prefer tts to tune with but that's just me.
The sepst is only 15 minutes. I almost went TTS a few years back so that was the last time I really looked at those. I may now go TTS but I won't be doing any data gathering. I have used a pv to download maps, no data gathering. Seemed like a easy to use system. I have since sold it for the friend that I was using it on and he went tts.
