This^. I put Heritage Style bars on my 2011 and it was a huge improvement for comfort. Especially since you're taller than 5'8". I too left well enough alone when I got my '14. I love this bike and thinking it'll last me until I'm crippled enough to need a trike.
Danny, you are just a pup. Money says you will wear out your '14 plus 2 or 3 more before you move on to a trike.
That being said, the new Freewheeler is pretty nice, huh?
King hands down. You can always add a fairing, but you are stuck with it on the other bikes. And, I think the windsheild adds just as much wind blockage.
Love all the posts, advice, and the awesome looking bikes! Keep it coming.
Here's another twist, when I put the windshield on the deluxe the wind was blocked to my face, but it would hit my shins, run up over the knees and tank and setup an oscillation under my chin that made me want to puke. I am sure that's not the same on the RK and its different since the windshield is a bit further away from the rider?
I also like the idea of all the detachable options for the RK making it the Swiss army of the HD lineup.
On my third and last "King". I have had other bikes in the Harley line up but, I keep going back on the RK. So, I finally realized this is the only bike for me. By the way, I have ridden over 200K on the these RK's across the country 3 times and many Fla trips.
I have all the goodies to change up the bike for long distance trips and can swap them out in less than a couple hr's. I am finally home on my last scoot.
I owned an Ultra for a while and loved it however after years of NOT going on long trips etc I got a 2015 RK. It's so much easier to handle and I love the fact that I can add or take away pieces as I want. You will be happy with the King! Good luck

Hmmm, you better test ride a RK. You may be surprise. I have lower fairings on my RKC.
So here are some questions.... You say the girl doesn't ride that much ??? Why??? I've met plenty of chicks that didnt ride that much because their old man was more interested in being cool than making her happy. I'd throw them on the back of my road glide ultra and you couldn't get them off . If a chick is over 25 they start thinking of comfort over cool and want some place to throw their stuff.
Next question is how much do you value music ??? If its something you dig you are better off with a fairing .
I've had 2 kings, 2 ultras , and 3 glides. For me it's the glide. But I like to put miles on. If I was just doing around town, some bar hopping, and back roads I might go for a king.
People talk about you can as stuff but it gets really expensive that way. Just check out what it costs to ad a tour pack .
On a glide you can run a short windshield around town and all you have to do is slap on a taller one to tour.
If wait for the 16's to come out. I bet they will have a road glide ultra. If you don't like the 16's you can always get a better deal on 15.
