Kind of Ironic, a lot of bikers will say, man thats a shame, then pull on there 10 dollar novelty helmet and roar off. Im for freedom, but this shows that helmets save lives. Best wishs to him.
Agree about freedom. Freedom to be informed and make an educated decision. I distribute helmets wholesale AND will fight to keep the decision the rider's choice The experienced, educated rider is my best customer. Ditto on the best wishes.

I wish this young man the best. Basically, from what I can see, with a helmet this would have been a none event. Without a helmet, it almost cost him his life. This would explain the logic when legislatures make their decision on helmets, right, wrong, or indifferent.
I suppose you guys are different in the USA with health care but over here in the UK, we have the National Health Service.
Basically what that means is that if, you choose to not wear a helmet and crash, injure yourself then the NHS pays for your care (i.e. I pay for your care ultimately) I am glad in the UK that you must wear a helmet by law.
Saying that, it is great to feel that breeze in the hair when your not wearing it
I always get miffed when people start spouting freedom and the like but donât have the insurance to take care of them when they freely fly off the ride onto the tarmac, head first.
If you have the insurance or $$$ to take care of yourself and your family when you get injured, go right ahead and ride naked for all I care âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ. Just donât post any pictures here LOL
I hope he comes out of this ok. I can relate to bleeding on the brain and what it can do to you from wreck I was in in 98. Learned my lession hard way to wear seatbelt. What doctors can do nowdays he will be back out there.
There are many more things related to healthcare expense that do not have government mandates. Birth control while under government subsidy for existing children, etc. the U.K's helmet mandate is different than any would be here seeing that motorcycles are deemed "transportation" there. Government here will never recognize motorcycles as transportation, therefore any mandates would sanction the use of ineffective novelty-type lids to just be in compliance. They do not, nor ever will, be concerned for the safety of motorcyclists. Period.
