Checkers,
I appreciate your sign line... "dragonslayer." Interesting dynamic with the 18 wheeler comment. They succumb to the dragon. LOL

Maybe that was funnier in my head.
Retired 4 years ago after 17 years and 2 million + miles OTR. I live a "stones throw" from The Dragon. Many friends from my home state of Wisconson come down and visit. Of course they want to ride it. I have ridden it 100's of times, not because it's my favorite stretch. Several times returned from a ride late at night, in the rain and fog on The Dragon. Always an experience. I have watched 18 wheelers go by when taking a break at Deals Gap and comment how foolish.

I guess I'm slow like that! I knew I loved the sound and I bought my cams to enhance that sound. I just didn't put it together that it sounds like a heartbeat ...

CSM" We ALL got it no explantion nessesary!

Checkers: I dunno what those Goldwing guys see in them.

Hazzardous: It makes perfect sense. I am a Jap bike convert also...Harley clone attempts... just not a goldwing!

Musician: Yep. We know!

I also worked as a mechanic in the trucking industry for 15 years before I started driving trains, I can relate!

I've always had a ride since I was sixteen. Many different makes. Got on a Harley, game over! Nothing like it, period! JR

I ride a Harley because of the comfortable riding position for touring. I am a diesel technician and my hands go numb if I put any pressure on them due to Carpal Tunnel. The looks of a Harley is a major plus but they lack from the factory in a lot of areas. If Harley would change One thing It would be suspension for me. There is no excuse for the crap they call suspension in 2015.

All good points.
I also like to see the shadow of my Road King Classic with the happy retired man riding along country roads as man and bike are one; as the snort and snarl announce our passing by to old folks on the porch that eagerly wave as we both enjoy the passing of time and miles and smiles.
It's a peaceful time. Life is good.

A bunch of years ago when the kids were still at home and I was still riding a home made Triumph chopper, I took my wife for a ride on two different bikes. At the time I had airbrushed my first bike, a soft tail. That friend let me take her on it. My parents had some kind of Jap cruiser with all the bags and stuff. While riding it, my wife said "this is so smooth, it's like not being on a motorcycle" as a complement. I said " I know, what's the point of riding it?!!!"

It sounds like a heart that's in A-Fib, not normal sinus rhythm.

Why do I love mine? because it's a Harley!

Very much more in the carb bikes, before EFI with its 1,000 rpm idle. And the current twinkles do not sound as good as the earlier models. I'm not a sporty fan but in the current crop of new Harleys, the EVO sporty by far has the best Harley sound.
