Thank you all for the responses. I think I will check out the ladies forum and see what they say too. I'm glad to see ahorter people than me are riding these bikes just fine. I was discouraged a bit after the drop, but maybe I will be able to handle it better with some mods.
I haven't pushed around a street glide or a road glide, but I will check them out. Maybe they will give me even better footing to be able to push it around better.
It sounds like you maybe steered too sharply. But, as others have said, it just takes practice. I'm 6'3" and have had a few near misses when walking my bike around in the garage, so it's definitely not a height thing... but I'm sure that adds to it.
Im 6'2" and 300+ lbs, about 2 weeks ago I was backing out of my garage and into the driveway to turn my Ultra Classic around and dropped it to the left. It gets away from you sometimes. Ive only had the bike 4 months and since I live in Indiana only been on it for the last 2 months. Don't get discouraged, like everyone else said, it takes practice and there is a learning curve I think. Good luck, welcome to the forum!

Thanks guys!
Bikegirl, you're about the same height as my son. He rides a Softail Deluxe, but also rides his buddies StreetGlides without a problem. Let us know how your bike shopping turns out...
Yep only damage was the pride seeing my 30k bike laying on its side in front of all my friends. Luckily they were friends enough to get it back up on the rubber before they ribbed me about it and I didn't even have to ask for help.
I don't know any woman who doesn't love their heritage softail. Has the bags but a very balanced bike, sits low, comfortable. I have a street glide. I love it. Every so often I get an itch for a different bike. But after I ride one I can't imagine being on any thing but my street glide. I've done lots of upgrades to it like a ohlin shocks, progressive front end, Michelin commanders - all for the ride and handling.
People drop their bikes. You learn not to grab that front brake when the front wheel isn't straight. Good luck on your journey!
friend of mine has a 06 street glide, she's about 5' nothin. lowered front shaved the seat and added a rider backrest<gives her something to push on to help backing she does fine.
the pre new frame glides are a bit lighter not as wide in the seat area and sit a bit lower, they dont handle quite as well but… some suspension work and a rear stabilizer makes em very ridable.
