Make sure the + side, with all the printing on it, faces down. Also there's a small spring-like tab on the side of the battery, make sure that is in place as well.

I carry a spare. Glad I did. My battery died while on a trip. Got up and went to start the bike. Nothing. Got out the spare battery..installed it correctly (used my reading glasses) and it started right up. My buddy was impressed enough to ask what battery it was and he immediately went to a store and put one on his bike. Mine last about two years. Changing them yearly makes sense...I just forget. CR2032 is the number. Cheap insurance, especially if you are not practiced at starting your bike with the security code! I can, but few I ride with remember how. Most drug stores carry the CR2032 in a two pack.

With the battery upside down, maybe you could flip your bike over and give it a try.

You should also practice using the disarming feature of your bike also. Just in cast the fob does not work...I change all my batteries Car and Bike once per year. Batterybob.com is a good and cheap place for batteries.

Owner's manual ( you should read it ) says annually. Mine usually last 3 years.
