Looking to add an extended rear brake pedal/lever on my 12 UC. Got a line on a used one from another member here...and great price (Thx Madbagr!).
Here's the problem though...there's a different pedal listed for years 97-07 and another one for 08-13. His came from an 05 RK...I have a 12 UC. Anyone know what the difference is? Is it something minor that can be made to work, or something more substantial like different size pivot shaft?
I can't give you a direct answer, but your '12 bike has an entirely new frame compared with that '05 bike. I suspect there is very little carry over, from the earlier bikes to yours.
Thx for the responses guys. I do fully understand the major frame change in 2008, but that doesn't necessarily mean the brake lever has to change. That being said...after a bunch of research, I think I found my answer.
Looks like it's the way the push rod from the master cylinder fastens to the brake pedal/lever. On my bike (2012), the clevis is on the lever itself and the push rod (#28 below) slides into the clevis.
On the 2005 RK, the clevis is on the push rod (#22 below) and it slides over the lever.
Now, the pivot shaft may be a different diameter as well...don't know that, but it definitely looks like the 2005 pedal/lever will not work on a 2012. Looks like I am still on my quest to find a used extended rear brake pedal to try on my 2012.
Just thought I'd share my findings. Thx again guys!
