Default Headset?

Have a 2015 Ultra I picked up last week, the gf wants to try the headset, the one that came with the bike has to be mounted to a full or 3/4 helmet, we dont wear those, I know Harley has a headset but have heard many negative reviews, are there any aftermarke headsets that you can wear with a half helmet and not mount to the helmet?

Thanks

The cord to plug in the headset is unique to HD. If you get a aftermarket headset, make sure it will plug in to the bike correctly. We wear helmets, and I can tell you the headset works great for tunes and conversation, but not sure how to use it with no headgear.

Go on ebay and look. You can get them for around $35-40. They work OK and you don't have to spend a ton of money to see if you like using them. I have one that I wear with a 1/2 helmet and it does the job for what I paid for it.

I looked on Ebay and found them also, but read a reply that said they couldn't hear each other on the bike and requested to return them. Sometimes you get what you pay for. I have the one that came with my Ultra, and by itself, the music comes in really clear with a half helmet, but I will not pay HD what they want for another one. I'm still looking for one that is good enough, but not big $$$.

The one I have is sold by Freeride Motosports. If works just fine for the price. Doesn't work great with VOX, but neither does my in helmet HD one. I usually just use the PTT with both. My OL can hear me just fine over it and the music sounds good as well.
