Had a couple big downpours when I was in FL last year. Bike started right up. My motor is pretty much stock. On the covers, unless you cinch it down pretty good at the bottom, sometimes they'll just blow right off, especially the kind of weather you guys get on OK.
You do not need a cover, and you do not need to worry about the rain. You plan on washing it, so the bike can get wet. It is a vehicle, it is meant to be outside. Have a towel handy to dry the seat and ride home. You will not hurt the bike.
No damage from a little rain. I have a Road King Classic and keep a nice coat of leather treatment on the seat and bags and have no concerns with a little water. Plus I probably wax it too much so the water just kind of slides off.
The water in the seat tends to accumulate on the kickstand side. So if you start to feel a wet spot on the left side, don't worry. You don't need Depends!
If your bike has never been wet before, you might notice more condensation in your gauges now. No biggie. That's a Harley charming idiosyncrasy.
I can barely see the needles of my instruments for all the fogging - it rains a lot here.
As the others said, it's a motorcycle, it's meant to get wet, embrace the elements.
I payed over 200 for a Harley cover for my Limited. I ride to work everyday to. Work inbetween to Carbon Black plants. I'd take the cover off and the bike would be just as dirty. If I'd cover it on a rainy day, usually it rains all the way home so gained nothing there either. All this in saying got a barely used Harley cover if you want to buy one lol
If your seat is anything like mine, it will soak up water, and your butt will be wet on the way home
hey shooter not to hijack this thread but my ultra seat keeps water also. i dont want to change the seat because its the matching seat for the 13 anniversary, any suggestions on fixing that problem. i ride in rain all the time

Carry a garbage bag big enough to cover your seat. Takes up very little room in your saddlebag.
