Electra Glide re-build
I've owned several bikes, sold my 100 year FLHTCI (2) years ago, thought I was out of the sport. But, couldn't shake it.
Now I bought a wrecked 07 FLHTCI, plan to fix / mod it to my tastes, it will be very street glideish when done, but the tour pak will be dockable.
Paint will be black, wheels, fork, exhaust black powder coat, or ceramic coat.
I've built a few wrecked trucks / cars, never a bike. So here goes
If you know your way around a simple set of hand tools, star sockets and both SAE and metric allen wrenches you can have the entire bike apart in a matter of a few hours. Just take your time putting it all back together and if the item/part looks bent or out of place do yourself a favor and replace it. Ebay and/or your local Craigslist will be your best friend. You don't need to go brand new or show-quality unless that's what your're building.
I love the project and good luck in making it exactly what you want for 1/3 the price of a brand new one!!
Also, judging by your pics be sure to check out the engine guard upper mounting tab. My engine guard bar was pretty bent similar to yours and I ended up having to bend my upper engine guard mounting tab back with a couple good smacks from a heavy mallet. No sweat and the welds are still strong and intact.

Pics of your projetc? (I love to steal!)
My engine guard is toast, found on on CL for $45.00, pick it tomorrow.
I replaced all of the painted parts - sans the tank and front fairing and added lower fairings and a detachable lighted tour pack and some other small accessories.

The front light bar is toast, but I'm trying to find some other options for that. Never been a fan of that big fixture.
Any ideas?
