Default Handle Bar Help!

I am in the process of replacing my handle bars and got myself in a pickle. I have a 99 roadking police bike with no fairing. I have a black cover that is over top of the bolts for the handle bars, it also hold my handle bar lock. I cannot get this off!! I have searched and cannot find anything relevant to my bike. My Clymer service manual only covers bikes with a fairing. PLEASE HELP!!

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. You may get help by looking at one of the in-line parts websites, which give exploded diagrams of our bikes and may show the details you need. You may have to remove the nacelle halves to get at that cover.

Unfortunately the Clymer manuals ain't up to much, as you have discovered. There is no substitute for the correct factory service manual, which will give you extension info on your bike.

Thanks for the reply! I found what I needed and now feel like a dumb---. I searched through the website and found the exploded view of what I needed and then done a search for fork lock switch removal and came up with this website. http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...ts/-J03682.pdf Get kind of leery at prying at stuff on my bike. Been a long winter of repairing a long summer of riding.
