I'm sure this can be done.....but not having done it.....might as well check with my forum bro's. Can you make small changes in the handle bar location...forward or back?? Specifically, I think I want to "tilt" the bars forward just a bit....so I assume that you should be able to loosen the handle bar clamp and be able to make those types of minor adjustments.....yes??
Unfortunetly I do not think you can. You have to remove the handlebar cover and in order to do that you have to take the front nacelle off the bike.
Is what you're saying is that its kind of a pain to get to the clamp....but it can be done??....I hope! I've been wanting to buy a service manual anyway....so I guess its time.
Yes it can be done and it's kind of a pain at least the first time. l. If it's like my '04 RKC you don't have to take the nacelle off to remove the clamp shroud. The H-D service manual is great for lots of things and pays for itself in short order. Torque your bars back when done. If you don't you run the chance of stripping the threads in the clamp by over tightening, or worse, loosing control of the bike at the wrong time if too loose. Mine torque at 16ft/lbs Front first-- also in the manual.
Just make SURE you grab the little screw that holds the nacelle togther before it falls down in the wiring and who knows where. Mine fell and it took me a half an hour to find it.
Great question... I was thinking of trying the same thing on mine. Needs to go forward approx 1\2 inch. Let me know how yours works out. I'll be getting a manual next week so I can do the throttle grips.

What he said is very true, and when he said little, he means little tiny booger that will make you cuss some, especially as said if you drop it, there's a good thread on making these adjustments here somewhere, try the search function, I like to use double sticky tape on the little rascal, because usually unless you're very lucky, a dropped one is very hard to find.
