Default Parking

Do you park the bike in Neutral or in gear?? Stopped by a local shop to borrow a battery tester and the mechanic came out to check the charging system for me. He hit the start button and bike jumped forward because I usually leave the bike in gear. He says to me "WTF!! No one leaves their bike in gear." Well I was taught to never start a bike unless the clutch is depressed.

I was told to leave it in 1st pushing it forward until the trans engages so no one can accidently push it forward and knock it off the stand. My bike won't start in gear so it is not a big deal.

I always shut it down in nuetral and always depress the clutch when starting even in nuetral. If parking on an incline then I will leave it in gear.

I always park in first. Don't want to take a chance in it rolling or being pushed off the stand. Anyone who is around bikes should know to make sure it is out of gear or have the clutch pulled in.

Just how do you push a Harley off the Jiffy Stand?

In nuetral unless on a grade, start with the clutch in and bike in neutral.

Leave it in 1st every time. Just in the habit of shifting into neutral when starting.
