Advice on choosing new EFI 4 S&S 124ci
I bought a 2001 Road King & stripped it. I am only going to retain the frame and some of the stock fastening points. I am 59 years old and been building bikes since I have been 16. I never built an EFI system on a Harley, a little help is needed. What is the best performance system on the market for my motor? I bought it carbureted.
I am building a new platform to exhibit my products @ Motorcycle shows. Here is what I have:
S&S new 124 CI 2/cam, Spyke 6 speed, my Superbike inverted front fork set up w/Öhlins internals, Radial brake calipers, Metal Matrix 320mm rotors (4.2 Lbs/pair), Carbon fiber wheels (3.5” X 16” front & rear), & true duel Bassani 2007 exhausts w/megaphones. I am trying to lighten it up & increase stability & handling. My trees are no rake, which translates to 26 degree & 3.72” of trail. I use a standard width Wideglide front hub. The only front tires available that is suitable for a FL are 16”. I make 17” & 18”, however, there is no tires available with the proper load/speed index for these heavy bikes. The failure problems happen when the bike is underway and heat builds up such as in braking. Matching front & rear (same tread, material [bias/radial] and brand) tires are also a big problem. I will post in a few chat sites as I need to get ready for Myrtle Beach. Thanks in advance for all help. By the way, I included the photo of my new mould used for a 16" X 3.5" carbon fiber wheel used for both front & rear (only the lay-up is different).
