I do check my oil every day that I ride. Tire pressure is usually once a week.

i just cant bring myself to take my bike to a dealer for basic maint. and this is the reason i dont. Sorry for your issues. New bike should be enjoyed not takin to dealer for catastrophic failures. dealer gonna try and blame you cause well afterall, they are the smart ones and we are the screw ups that forget to check our oil. Joke

Seriously, on my HD's and any m/c, I always do a pre-ride check. Ever since BRC, and my military training, taught this as an important part of safety & prevention. Remember, bikes differ from cars and you don't come across service shops in every town or junction. Pre-ride checks can prevent your day from turning South. Might want to take on this practice, if you plan to own/ride long-term.

For OP, hope you get the problem resolved w/dealer...maybe a new motor's in order, or a good rebuild. Either way, keep us updated...thks!

I'm a 30+ year heavy equipment mechanic, what I would do in your place or recommend to anyone with a warranty is let them do what ever they want to that engine, then once you pick it up take it to an INDY and let them check it out for you. If the INDY says its bad get his diagnostic in writing and go back and let HD replace or fix it.

I bought a Monaco class A diesel motorcoach in 2007 that turned out to be a real lemon. Spend three try to resolve all the issues. Don't waste your time and money hiring an attorney, (I tried, cost me a lot) the legal system is this country is broken.
Let the dealer fix it under warranty, and if your not satisfied after that, cut your losses and unload it.

either do this or run the **** out of it until it blows up and then they can give you a new one.

It`s as easy as pulling the dipstick and reading the level, which is what the OP should have done.

Another thing the OP should have done is give the dealer a chance to make the issue right before accusing the mechanic on the forum.

There are two sides to every story. And I am a little skeptical of someone who doesn`t take the time to check the oil before riding.
I do my own servicing but if I did bring my bike to a dealer to be serviced I really should not have to check my oil before riding away, they are responsible for doing it right and making it right now.

Hope the warranty covers it for you!

my thoughts exactly.
