I doubt it's the Redline as well.
When I installed it in mine, I'd run hot water from the tap, then nuke it a minute or so, set the quart in the hot water to thin down the oil some, to make it easier to pour. It would flow easier than pouring it in cold.
You know the transmission is going to get the lube hotter than microwaved water will.
Matter of fact, I always warm whatever oil I'm installing. Don't have the patience to sit holding a quart of oil!!
You can blame the double row bearing with a plastic cage, you can blame the bearing door bearings being retained by snap rings, hell blame the government but I would not blame Redline. Been using it since I first installed my 6 speed in my Fatboy. How did I miss this thread back in May. I must be slipping.

I just bought Spectro for the trans and primary based on the recommendation on the Baker web site. ???
Explain how it is others put 80,000 or more miles on these same bikes and never have any issues. Running F+, Spectro and a long list of other pretty much standard lubes.
Always more to the story. Once again lot of miles on mine never had any failures. Ride with and know a lot of riders that rack up some miles , Can not remember any of them have these issues. I will ask around just for the heck of it, but sure there will just be funny looks in response. But if you buy into threads like this you would think they all do it when they don't.
By the way if you don't let bubba rebuild it your crank will grenade at 10K and better install that after market tensioner and fill it with ATF or you primary won't last 15K.

"Failure rate." It's real. None of these threads claim all bikes fail. However, it is clear that HD has spec'd some crap parts from time to time. Maybe your comp has not gone bad and your VR and bearings are good as new, but others have not been so lucky. Incuding me. Your post sounds like you think the unlucky among us are making this up.

Maybe maybe not. My main shaft bearing crapped out coming back from Canada . I looked at what the dealership wanted to replace it, and figured they might tell me at 70,000 miles the whole tranny needed to be rebuilt/replaced. I bought the tools replaced the $50 bearing and all is still good at 110,000 miles.
That said I won't tell you what fluid I use because I don't think it's relevant to the thread.
Smitty,
I'm glad your bike has held up well but it's just one bike. Don't assume they all do that.

Not just one bike, I ride 20-60K a year trade about every 2 years . Still have my 96 FB. I have had no problems with any of these bikes.
On the TC's change oil about 4-5K primary around 8-10K transmission around 20K.
