Mine has a standing monthly appointment at the HD dealer for a wash and detail. $20 + tip. And the bike is showroom ready.....and i get to go shopping or just shoot the breeze with the mechanics....
Yup, life is all about enjoying it...80 years on this universe that is a couple of billion years old is extremely short...
Have fun and ride safe....
I have a Trek Fuel 100 mountain bike that my brother-in-law bought new for $6500 and rode it maybe 50 miles on pavement over a 10 year period. Perfect condition - sold it to me and now is sad when he visits and sees how dirty and scratched it is! I told him I bought it to ride it and I have taken some serious tumbles on it :-)
Same goes for the Harley (except for the tumbles!). I bought it to ride it and I want to ride it until it wears out!
I spend very little time keeping it clean, but it is not perfect, but looks good.
Bought my 15 Limited in jan 9K miles ridden in the rain and AZ haboob dust storm but still haven't hosed down it yet just wipe off some bugs and good to go.
I think you guys might be missing the pernt. Yes; I love to ride, too. But...I ALSO love the experience of detailing my bike, doing maintenance, etc. It's nice to step back & look at your sled after a good detailing, & if you keep your bike nice from the get go, it shouldn't take more than 1/2-1 hour. It's all part of the whole experience. Plus--you always feel like you have a new bike.
My only thing about riding in the rain is the safety factor.
Set your mind that you're going to ride. Gear up for the weather. Ride defensively. Enjoy.
'fooz
Sounds like my wife, I'll be calling her from Amarillo to let her know the direction I'm going.
I like to take care of my bike and keep it clean but like riding it too. It is what it is, have fun and ride aggressively but safe.
About 10 days ago I posted on FB how nice my bike was detailed after spending 2-3 nights doing everything to it. Since then I caught rain 3x, ran over some sloppy road kill, and hit a bird with my fairing that left blood all over that and the windshield.
Yesterday I plan to ride to work, but the forecast is a chance of scattered t-storms. Take the car. It's sunny all day. WTF
