Kury armrests for the UC - finally!!

Mounted 'em this morning, after spending last night reworking the mount bases themselves. If you're doin' an OEM install, they'll bolt in with some minor drilling into the Tour Pack. If you're installing with the TP relocator that I installed earlier in the week, then you're in for some MAJOR rework - when I say major, let me put it this way - 4 hours of intense work drilling and custom-fitting a number of components. This is NOT something I'd recommend for "Joe Rider" to do in his garage. The mount bases have to be drilled out, then a spacer installed that will allow the standard 1/4" bolts be used. You have to use longer 1/4" bolts, which I upgraded to Grade 8 for additional strength. The only spacers I could find were a tad too small, so I had to drill them out. They're made of spring steel, so the not only were very HARD (which ate some bits), but also a bitch to hold on to as I drilled 'em - hadta use pliers, because between the torque and the heat, there's NO way you could hold 'em by hand. Once drilled, you then drive 'em into the mount bases, then drill 'em out once more, since the compression from the insertion makes the hole smaller. Coulda made the mount base holes larger, but I was shooting for a VERY tight fit so it wouldn't "slop" when mounted. Once the mods to the mounts were done, it was a matter of realignment of the TP and boltin' 'em in. Again, because of the changes caused by the TP relocator plate, it was a bit of a challenge due to very limited accessibility - but finally got 'em done!!!Anyways, here's the pics afore ya'll kin gripe at me!

BTW....one VERY interesting change in the swing-out assembly from what I'm used to seein' on the GL-series is the ball detent system used to hold the armrests in position. No more squeeking nylon washers, no more trying to find that "just right" tension on the bolt! Hopefully, that's a change they'll make to their GL mounts as well!!!!If you look at the picture, you can make out one of the detents, and the ball itself.

Better half loves 'em - we've been waitin' on 'em since we bought the bike back in November! She's always had 'em on the Goldwings, and it was dang nigh a deal-killer when she found there weren't rests available for the UC!! Once I found that there were some bein' designed, she was cool with it (but asked me 'bout 'em weekly!)
