If you can try to talk to the driver and let him know you will hook him up with a nice $ tip $ things will go a lot better and request a cycle dolly !!!
I would for a (loved) one explain to them A get it fixed , B maybe you should not drive it and (depend) on it till it is fixed ... True enough, and I wholeheartedly agree with you on the point of being road worthy before you head out ... However I still take exception to the **** poor service exhibited by those who are supposed to be a service oriented provider and fail miserably ... Maybe it comes from years of my being an ASE Mechanic and owning my own shop ... If you're getting paid to do a job do it ... No harm Griffin ... Ride safe

True, and a good idea to tip the driver, but why have the coverage? Makes no sense to pay for the coverage and then have to tip the driver. I'll take my chances and pay for a tow if needed.
I am from Canada. We have the RV/Motorcycle coverage. My wife and I were on our way back to Las Vegas from 29 Palms taking a side road when my bike tire blew (typical bad Dunlop sidewall) and left us on the side of secondary road. Well that day everything else went our way. We had water . We both got cell service. Then a California Highway Patrol car came by (said " Its your lucky day. I never come down this road but I followed a speeder onto it and was looking for a place to turn around") We called AAA. There was a bit of miscommunication (girl on phone asked if I had my spare ready ! I said lady it's a motorcycle we generally don't have spares! Cop howled at that one) and then after about an hour a large , new lift deck truck showed up. I had given gps co-ordinates. He was great and we quickly loaded bike. I asked how much extra to take us straight to Las Vegas (and our trailer to get back to Canada). Was well worth the extra. He even helped me load onto trailer. You bet I tipped him. Tow would have been about $700. plus extra to Las Vegas. I know it was California so maybe i got lucky. The guy told me they fight over RV and Motorcycle tows because they get paid both ways when towing motorcycles or RV's? My story , my two cents.
You do realize that Triple A doesn't actually own any tow trucks, right?
funny I just had to do an appraisal on a AAA Northeast/New England service truck at their depot in North Andover MA. The vehicle I appraised was registered to AAA, and there were probably 50 trucks at that facility including including a lot of tow trucks.
around here they do own and operate their own trucks, in addition to subbing out to the local tow companies
I have towed bikes using the boom and wheel lift on a standard truck
, we had straps to lift the bike by pulling the seat and going onto the frame, then we put the wheels on the wheel lift and strapped the wheels to it.

I had my old Softail towed that way once. At first I was in shock but I was tired & just said go ahead. They did it just as you described, raised the "boom" until the bike was kinda "taught" between the boom and the wheel lift, stayed that way and never moved an inch.
My eyes never left the truck's rear view mirror all the way home lol
