I didn't want to worry about my 3 kids being stranded, so we got AAA 15 years ago when my oldest got his license. We have averaged using their towing service at least once a year between our five cars and I can't recall getting bad service once. I once tipped the driver $50 for taking extra caution loading up my corvette.
I have never needed them for my motorcycles, but since there is always at least in my garage, odds are in my favor I will need them some day.
we take our motorcycle rescue here seriously, all drivers are trained and knowledgeable. Wait time should no more than an hour and a half on busy days. Guess that is one reason we are consistently in the top three for satisfaction of all clubs U.S. and Canada, and number one for many years. Don't let one bad experience reflect on others, up here you would have been compensated and taken care of. We are also one of few clubs in North America that has our own fleet.
I keep a couple of soft straps in my saddle bag just in case, at least that way anyone with a trailer or flatbed and a couple of straps can help me. I hope i never need them but if a friend or someone else needs them at least i have them handy.

Good idea, I'm throwing a couple in my bag.
Thanks for the tip

Me too ... Came in handy when I took the ferry across Lake Michigan
They saved my @$$ last August. We were about 15 miles south of Santa Maria, CA, about 3:00 PM on a Saturday. Throttle would not respond. Called AAA, they had an authorized flatbed there in 30 minutes. The driver was very courteous and knowledgeable of towing bikes. They called me twice to give me updates. They got me to Santa Maria Harley by 4:00, and we were fixed and on our way by 5:00.
Maybe the service varies by locale. But, for those that have had bad experiences...that sux!! But, I wonder if anyone else could have done better.
One of the big law firms that handles motorcycles that I can't remember at the moment passes out cards at Rallies for folks to sign up on a help list.
I got on it offering service to pick up a bike within a 100 mile radius of the Quad City area of Illinois and Iowa. Which includes I-80.
Never had a call in years. I have a enclosed trailer and as expert as possible in securing a bike. You call their 800 number and they give you the number of someone in the area you are at. I also involves going the the hospital if that is the case and assisting the bike with logistical needs.
I never have paid for a service like that. I have spent my life with the goal of being self sufficient. to that end I have two ways of recovering a bike.
Even have a crane to lift a broken bike into the back of a truck. A 12 volt wench to drag one into the trailer if necessary. I stay ready.
