spark plug change @service?

I had my 2012 rkc 20k miles serviced and 25K miles serviced recently at a Sacramento HD service center. The maintenance serviced is about a few months apart. My spark plugs was replaced during both serviced. I called the shop and was told that it is their policy to replace spark plugs at every service visit.

Do all the HD service shops do these procedures? If so, should I need to replace spark plugs also in addition to replacing oil? Thanks

You could probably go 20-30k miles on 1 set. I change mine every other service and do it myself. Cheap insurance for $8 every other change.

The manual for my 09 says every 20,000 for spark plugs. I usually do them every 10,000 to be safe since they are cheap.

My Indy charges $3.25 a plug and changes them out at every major service

I change my own engine oil and pull them to inspect them when I am working on the bike, I re-gap them and stuff them back in.

NGK plugs with 60k on them - I clean and re-gap at every 5k service - Some dealer just love sticking it to John Q public....

Mine gets changed at every 5K intervals. I have no issue with that & it's not expensive.

Cost has nothing to do with it - its just more fleecing of the flock by a dealership - just like when they add on shop supplies - leave it to the bean counters to make money.
