Default Little help here....

I have a 2005 electra glide efi that I had a 98", stage IV head work, S&S tapered push rods done on it. S&S510G cams with 1.75 SE rockers on the intake. After I had all this work done I have developed a tick and cant get to the bottom of what it is from. I thought it was lifters so the builder replaced them with now ones without riding it. After my first ride I told him it was still doing it so he took it out and said that is nothing to worry about, he said it is the harmonics of the cam and the heavier springs closing the valves harder. I have talked to a few people in my area and it is about a 50\50 split that say there is nothing wrong with it and those that say its not right. It runs good has good power just ticks and its driving me nuts. What do you think?

My initial thought is pushrod adjustment, although with a builder capable of a build like that he would know how to set lash. I know that after I did cams I had what I thought was excessive valve train noise, but I reused my stock pushrods so it couldn't have been out of adjustment. My noise quieted down after a while. I didn't do new valve springs, but maybe it's just noisier as a result of higher lift.

That's what you get with a build with bigger cams, heaver springs and so on. If you trust your builder and I'm sure you do trust him about the ticking. Maybe some heavier oil may help some.

have had similar experiences, went back and replaced lifters twice and bingo, then years later came back a little bit and gave pr adjustments 2 flats deeper, bingo.

i wouldn't except anything but less ticking then stock
