Default Cruise Control Problem

I have recently be experiencing problems with the cruise control on my 2011 Ultra Classic. Sometimes it engages, other times not. I've had the bike to my local HD dealer and they've run several diagnostic tests but have not determined the definite cause of this intermittent problem. They replaced the switch on the handlebars but it still hasn't solved the problem. Any suggestions on what might be causing this elusive situation? Thanks! RLJ50

Do you have a PCV installed?

If so this may be the issue, search the Q&A section on the Dynojet website and it will tell you how to change a setting and fix the issue.

Lots of cruise control problems associated with the brake lite switch.

It could also be the clutch switch. With the newer Rushmore bikes, that has popped up as an issue.

Ahhh, maybe specify rear brake switch? The most common is the one the OP said his dealer replaced. If the rear goes bad, does the brake light stay on all the time? Or does it not work at all? I would think the ecm "sees" the brake switch complete the circuit and cancel the cruise. Thusly the brake light would also be on all the time.
