Getting ready to go on a couple road trips and was wondering what rain gear you folks use. The suits from hd are very pricey, and was looking for a more economical alternative the works well.
You get what you pay for. I use the HD Hi Viz and while pricey it keeps me dry and don't have to worry about the legs melting. Also reasonably comfortable.
i used frog troggs once, after cleaning them of my pipes with oven cleaner i got a set from hd that was 9 years ago and the pants are just starting to leak because I've worn the *** out of em.
I use a Tourmaster and I bought a Nitro rain suit for my wife. They are both quality but it's hard to beat Tourmaster, it's comfy, easy in and it breathes. I don't like getting wet if I have to possibly ride all day in the rain to get to my destination and I don't want my rain suit to become a sauna. I also use Swiss army surplus wool based leg gaiters as a precaution to protect any rain suit from the pipes. They were about $13. worth of cheap insurance at the military surplus store.
Frogged togs don't have any reflective gear on them which makes the rider a black blob for lack of a better term when riding in the heavy downpour. Headlight reflect off the harley gear way better. Safety first then cost.
