The rk custom is my choice. But ANY rk is a step in the right direction. You made a great decision. The rk is the most versatile bike that harley makes. Welcome to the forum. Lots of good stuff here. Don't hesitate to ask all the questions you have. There are a lot of people here with lots of good advice.

I ride an 07 Road King, I had same issues with the seat and handlebars. I got the sundowner seat, its very comfortable, and replaced the stock handle bars with stock Heritage softail classis bars, you dont need to change any cables or brake line. It raises the grips up to where you don't lean forward slightly as with the RK bars. Huge difference in comfort changing both of these items, and the heritage bars were only 60 dollars from the dealer. Check out the police road king, it has the heritage bars also much more comfortable...

You will love the Road King. I have an 07 and I am 100% happy with the ride and the way it handles on all roads. Keep me up to date on how you like it..
