My rule of thumb has been, when you replace a tire you replace the bearing. That goes for front or rear. Never had a failure!....I agree with most of you, cheap insurance!

Damn.....every change, you must have a 09 or newer.
dam. looks like Vaseline. id repack that asap with some real Bel Ray waterproof bearing grease. to me, this is the problem from the factory. that stuff looks like it would get washed out after a washing or two. probably why they go south at 5k miles.
2000-2007 were the good 1" double seal bearings that have lasted to 100k. The 2008 up 25 mm bearings were prone to failure, especially the '08,'09 and '10. Being smaller, lack of grease etc. They must have corrected the problem with the part number change. 9276 to 9276a. I'd probably replace these with a tire change too.

this is exactly what i have been saying all along. no real grease in them to start with. pop the seal and repack before installing and you may get more miles out of them. my factory installed ones lasted 2500 miles and were shot. they are a junk design from the start.
